Chaplin Estates is a very upscale neighbourhood that is in walking distance to the subway and great restaurants on Yonge Street! West of Yonge Street and Davisville, it runs north to Eglinton and west to Avenue Road. These lovely detached, English Cottage, Tudor and Georgian style homes are well built and are on large treed lots, most with private driveways. The homes on the south side of Chaplin Ave back onto The Beltway (an old railway line) which is a great recreational trail that is a walking and a cycling trail. Chaplin Estates has all ages but young families are well represented as there are wonderful schools, parks and recreational ammenities in the area. History: Chaplin Estates dates back to the day when it was simply called ‘Eglinton’ and was first settled by the Chaplin family in 1860. William and James Chaplin, father and son, registered the first plan of subdivision in 1913. There were many restrictions including the fact that there could be no semi detached houses. Most of the lots were sold in the mid 1920’s and the homes were built in the mid 1920’s and early 1930’s.
